Would you rather eat a cucumber or a pickle?

Yesterday was just one of those days that I continually asked myself if it was real life.  As many of you  know, many of my summer adventures occur at Adventure Reef water park. Seriously, the craziest things happen there.  We all knew it was going to be a long day when Jacob had to jump in and save the third girl off the diving board.  Along with many saves, one of our co-workers had a heat stroke, a patron broke their eye socket, and we were out in 100 degree heat.  I have to admit I was pretty stressed and tired of being there, but then I remembered the reason that I keep coming back to the Rec. People.  The people I work with are amazing.  We all have our days when all we want to do is leave, or just feel like no one will listen to us. But we are always there to pick each other up. My co-workers were definitely there for me yesterday.  Stephen surprised me with the sushi we had been talking about for weeks. Jessica was shadowing me and listened to my venting.  Jacob stopped to ask me how I was doing whenever he walked by.  Logan danced with me.  And everyone else too,  I just love them, I am so thankful for the people I work with.

Little did I know my day was far from over.  Jennifer Belt and I decided it had been too long since we caught up.  We were both deliriously exhausted, but had so much fun talking about our camp trips, I love getting to talk to her. She is so encouraging and humble.  One of the best listeners I know.
It was Thursday so of  course I went with the gang to get 59 cent cones (still a little bitter about the 9 cents).  The first McDonald's we went to I got to see two very special friends, Bethany and Jessica.  I love seeing their beautiful faces, they are so fun and I can't wait until we hang out with them this summer.  Their cone machine was broken so we headed to the new McDonald's down the road (Dorothy and Wilmington Pike) and it was awesome! Our favorite part was the bathroom... it was pretty cool. I have truly missed hanging out with Han, Can, and L.  They are pretty amazing friends.

We ended our night on a game of would you rather, Alex was on a roll and asked the question would you rather eat a pickle or a cucumber? I automatically went with pickle because I'm just a pickle person.  Afterwards I was thinking though, pickles are just cucumbers with flavor.  In Matthew Jesus says in verse 13 "You are the salt of the Earth." Today we use salt to give our food flavoring.  God calls us to be flavorful, to not live a bland life.  So how do we do that? I think yesterday was full of flavor.  Full of ups and downs, loving and being loved, and opening my eyes to the amazing people around me.
