Something about those kids...

A couple of  weeks ago I went on our now annual summer vacation -- 6 moms, 17 kids, 1 house.  Our week can be summed up into one word, chaos.  I am the oldest (besides the moms, but I am alright with it, I absolutely LOVE kids.  I don't know why really, but I just do. They definitely have a lot to teach us about adventuring.

The Crazy Clan

I think there is a key to this full life God calls us to that only little kids know. In Luke Jesus says, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Okay... Don't we spend our whole life trying to be mature?  Than why does Jesus say we have to receive the kingdom of God like a kid?

Two of my favorite kids from that crazy vacation gave me a little bit of insight.  On the last morning we went out to breakfast (yes, all 23 of us) and Mackenzie and Jackson decided it would be really funny to pour salt in my water. Whatever, I can deal with a little bit of salt water. If only it ended there. They proceeded to add a dash of pepper, honey, strawberries, pancake, and orange juice.  Disgusting right? And classic, I know we have all done it before.  The thing was they continued in drinking this gross concoction, and proclaiming it wonderful. And trust me, I tried it, it was really bad.

Mackenzie, Jackson, and Mitchell :)

I feel like these kids looked at my water the same way God looks at us.  Even though we have gross things in our lives, He still thinks we taste good.  Through all of our mistakes and failures, we are pleasing to Him.  I just thought it was crazy cool how I could learn a little bit more about how God loves me through these kids.

God also continues to show me that he wants me to trust Him like these kids trust their parents.  To trust Him with my life and know that He has my back, so that I can fully experience the adventures He has planned for me and that my heart desire.

Also, today we decided to do some synchronized swimming at Crestwood practice.  It just about made my life.  I can't believe our season is almost over.  I love getting to hang out and be goofy with these kids. They teach me a lot about patience and always keep me on my toes. Check out their awesome videos.
