I have been thinking about starting a blog for the past few months and told myself when I came across something worthy to blog about I would begin writing. And before I start I have to tribute Sarah Wright with my inspiration for wanting to start writing. She is an amazing woman who can just write about her day with friends and make my day a little brighter.
So back to how I found the theme for my blog. A couple of weeks ago I led Wyldlife at Camp Michindo, I had the opportunity to hang out with some of the coolest eighth and ninth graders I know. At the beginning of the week, Crystal, the speaker for the week, had two main themes. One, YOU TAKE GOD'S BREATHE AWAY. Two, she asked the question "What is real life?". The second question really struck a chord with me because I frequently ask myself if what I am experiencing is real life.
Throughout the week I kept asking myself if what really life? What in life will make us full? Jesus tells us in John 10:10 "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; I (Jesus) have come so that they may have life and have it to the full." So if Jesus comes to give us this real, full life, then why do we feel so lonely, bored, and flat out empty sometimes? Honestly, I don't usually feel this way but I often wonder if there is something to this real life God promises that I am missing. Those of you that have been to Young Life or Wyldlife camps know that it is not how our lives are back at home. We share our lives with each other. We go deeper into each others struggles. We are crazy, and don't care who sees. We take time to sit down and just talk to each other. We aren't distracted by phones, television, or computers. We show everyone our true laugh. We are always surprised. I truly think camp is one of the closest glimpses we get to the real life Jesus offers.
I am so thankful for Ricki, Macki, Gabi, Brooke, Ellie, Reilly, Lindsay, Elle (Buffy), Olivia, Audrey, Kiley, Mimi, and Avery for experiencing that real life with me and I can't wait to get back to Carmel and continue to hang out with them.
At the beginning of the summer I decided to be more adventurous. I have decided to blog about my adventures in attempting to find this real life God offers and I would love it if you would join me.
Aud, I cannot wait to join you in this adventurous life Jesus has planned for each of us - especially keeping in touch through blogs & facebook msgs when our paths don't cross! Love you a lot & I'm so glad you had fun at Wyldlife camp & that you're ready to chase after Jesus with these girls back at Carmel! God has so much in store for you in IN! :)
